FAQs

How long will it take?

That is a question that’s impossible to answer. No two people come in with the same problems, history, readiness or depth of motivation to change. But therapy is not a life sentence. It stops when you decide you’re done, but hopefully not before you’ve achieved goals you’ve set for yourself or made the transition to a healthier and happier life.

What is your mailing address?

P.O. Box 1604, New York, NY 10276

What are your office hours?

I have morning, afternoon and evening hours available weekdays except Fridays, and can usually find a time that works for both of us.

How much does it cost?

I work on a sliding scale – $150-$250 – depending on whether it’s individual or couples therapy, and our mutual availability. I prefer to meet you first so we can both see if it seems like a good fit and you feel comfortable working with me, and discuss a fee in person.

Do you take insurance?

I am not in-network on any insurance panels. Insurance companies can be intrusive, demanding justification for continuing coverage, and sometimes asking me to divulge confidential information. Since confidentiality is of the utmost concern to me, I prefer to work out a mutually agreeable fee privately, and then if you wish, I will give you a monthly statement to submit for out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance company.

Do you do internet or telephone therapy?

I no longer have a physical office. Since the start of Covid I have worked remotely via Skype. I would prefer to work in-person, but many patients are no longer able or willing to come to an office. Skype works well as a second-best to in-person.

For therapy purposes, Skype works better than Zoom, as no changes need to be made if someone has to reschedule an appointment. I don’t have to send you a new link, and there’s no “waiting room” or need to wait for the host to let you in.

My Skype name is katherine.rabinowitz2. If we decide to work together, one of us will “invite” the other, accept, and we’ll be good to go.
